Maintenance Technician

In the Industrial Maintenance Mechanic position, you will conduct a variety of regular preventative and predictive maintenance activities on the equipment and facilities. You will also perform a variety of maintenance services including preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repairing of various types of CNC, welding, laser, and manufacturing equipment as well as support continuous advancement and implementation of the manufacturing systems, infrastructure and operations in a variety of ways.

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • General facility and equipment maintenance including manufacturing equipment, material handling equipment, facility systems and structures, plumbing, electrical repair and installations.
  • Maintenance and repair to CNC controlled equipment.
  • Inspect and examine machinery to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions.
  • Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts.
  • Dismantle, clean, repair, replace, install, maintain, design, assemble and lubricate mechanical equipment, safety equipment, air, water. Gas lines, including hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Perform repairs, emergency repairs, installations and inspection work.
  • Perform preventative maintenance to equipment as required, including minor electrical repairs and welding.
  • Install, examine, replace or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components.
  • Maintain, repair, test and install electrical motors, hydraulic and pneumatic electrical and PLC control systems.
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery/facility.
  • Setup new and maintain existing equipment records, maintenance schedules, replacement parts lists, maintenance history and coordinate with outside service vendors and keep all service records in an organized manner.
  • Enhance equipment performance by recommending improvements and implementing.
  • Source and order replacement parts and safety parts or liaise with purchasing. Pick up parts as necessary using the available company vehicle.
  • Install, align, dismantle and move industrial machinery and mechanical equipment and in a timely manner.
  • Use proper lockout/tag out procedures when required, never allowing a machine to be operated without proper guarding or when the possibility of injury is evident.
  • Clean work area and equipment, and observe all safety regulations.
  • Ability to work after hours and weekends when repairs or projects require.

Qualifications:

  • Licensed as an Industrial Mechanic / Millwright and/or Licensed Industrial Electrician OR Completion of an Industrial Mechanic / Millwright program recognized by the Ontario Colleges an asset.
  • Experience as Heavy equipment mechanic, Automotive mechanic or related post-secondary education.
  • Basic welding and fabrication skills.
  • Knowledge of and experience with CNC controlled equipment, machining and fabrication equipment motors, hydraulics and pneumatics, conveyor systems, PLC's and robotics.
  • Able to evaluate, prepare and execute preventative/ predictive maintenance schedules.
  • Able to read & understand all codes & regulations (Federal, Provincial and Municipal) Preferred candidates have own tools necessary to perform maintenance tasks, specialized tools provided by Demtool.
  • Positive attitude with the ability to interact effectively with all team members.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • G drivers license with clean driving record. 
  • Strong organizational skills, able to prioritize requests and tasks to keep production going.
