This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team in custom manufacturing, We use a state of the art approach to manufacturing sheet metal products ranging a wide variety of industries including automation, robotics, health science and pharmaceutical, packaging and various other manufacturing companies. The Welding department offers new modern equipment, organized individual workstations and a clean, bright work environment. Demtool is also a CWB certified shop in both W47.1 and W47.2 Standards.
Responsibilities
- Interpret engineered drawings / weld symbols and follow job order specifications and routing order to fit and weld a variety of steel, aluminum, and stainless products.
- Setup, laying out work using jigs/fixtures or hand layouts to fabricate parts and or rework finished products.
- Fit precision metal fabrications to guarantee geometry of weldment prior to applying final welds.
- TIG or MIG weld all three material types typically between 0.5mm and 20mm thick including all joint types.
- Although we have a dedicated polishing department the ability to finish welds to the drawing specifications on a variety of materials would be an asset.
- Operate crane, forklift, hand power tools, slings, grinders, welding equipment, polishing tools and other tools related to the job requirements.
- Ensure quality workmanship and efficiency in all daily production activities.
- Follow company procedures for accurate production reporting, quality assurance, and safety.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of previous welding and fitting experience with thin sheet metal assemblies.
- Verification of weldment geometries using appropriate precision measuring equipment
- Experience with standard fitting techniques and best practices.
- Strong level of competency in TIG welding practices.
- Solid comprehension of AWS welding symbols and techniques.
- CWB Certification in W47.1 and W47.2 Standards an asset
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings/diagrams.
- High level of attention to detail and pride in workmanship
